[British Isles] Cardon, Anth(ony)., and L. Schiavonetti. The Assault and Taking of Seringapatam and The Surrender of Two Sons of Tippo Sultaun



(London, ca. 1801). Pair of hand-colored mezzotint engravings, by Anthony Cardon and Luigi Schiavonetti after Henry Singleton; captions in English and in German. Each approximately 17 x 18 7/8 in. (432 x 479 mm) (sight). Each with staining in margins, but not affecting image. Each in mat and unexamined out of matching frames, 23 3/8 x 25 1/2 in. (594 x 648 mm).

Pair of hand-colored engraved scenes by London-based engravers Anthony Cardon and Luigi Schiavonetti, from a four-part series depicting key events from the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War (1798-99).

The Fourth Anglo-Mysore War was the last in a series of conflicts between the Kingdom of Mysore in Southern India and the British East India Company, which ended at the decisive Siege of Seringapatam with the death of the Tipu Sultan.
